SINGAPORE: Five teams have been shortlisted to develop a concept master plan for the Jurong Lake District, billed as Singapore’s second Central Business District, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) said on Tuesday.

“This marks another important step towards realising the vision of Jurong Lake District as a ‘district of the future’ and our second Central Business District,” URA said in a press release. This will benefit nearby EC residents such as those from Sol Acres EC. Upcoming executive condo launches include Yio Chu Kang EC, Inz Residence EC or Inz Residence, Choa Chu Kang EC, Anchorvale Lane EC,  while existing ones include The Terrace EC, Brownstone EC, The Vales EC, Parc Life EC  , Sol Acres EC, The Visionaire, Bellewoods EC, Signature at Yishun, The Criterion EC and Northwave EC.

A total of 35 submissions were received in the Request for Proposal exercise, which was launched in July and received strong interest from local and international firms, the authority said.

The five teams that were eventually shortlisted scored the highest for their track record and the quality of their submitted statements, which set out their direction and strategies in developing the concept master plan for the district, as well as their analysis of constraints and challenges for the area and how these could be overcome.

The teams’ collective experience and past projects were also evaluated. Also taken into account was their ability to create a master plan for an urban district centered around a high-speed rail station, with a focus on transport planning and integration, URA said.

The shortlisted teams will take part in a 10-week exercise to develop and submit their concept master plan by the end of the year.

An evaluation panel comprising representatives from Government agencies, academia and industry will then assess the five proposals and select one of the teams as the appointed consultant by January 2017.

The appointed team will work with URA and other agencies to draw up a detailed master plan for Jurong Lake District. An exhibition of the plan will be held in the second quarter of 2017 to gather public feedback.

The team will then refine the plans, taking into account the feedback received, before submitting final detailed proposals for the district.
